Cilacap coal-fired power plant in full operation

The 2 x 200 MW Cilacap coal-fired power plant in Central Java has resumed a full operation after securing 100,000 tons of coal supplies, a plant official said.

“Inspection for both of turbines has been done, so the turbines can run at full capacity started Wednesday,” the plant’s field manager Sutikno said on Thursday as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia.

Vinacomin signs up Vinh Tan coal

The state-owned Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) has signed a framework contract to buy 3.5 million metric tons of coal a year from the Indonesian miner PT Berau and the Indonesia based Maintime. The coal will be used to help fire the first phase of the Vinh Tan-1 coal-fired project.

Guangxi Imports Less Coal from Vietnam but More from Indonesia

The coal cross-border trade between Vietnam and China has been suspended since the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam released the Document no. 4437 abolishing the coal cross-border trade between the two countries starting on June 1st. As a result, the coal imports from Vietnam via Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s ports climbed only by 2.5% year-on-year to 5.777mt in the first five months of 2008, with the growth rate dropping considerably when compared with the annual growth rate of 40.7% in 2007, announced the Nanning Customs.

PJB re-tenders low CV coal supply for Paiton

PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a unit state electricity firm PLN, said on Monday that it has re-tendered 480,000 tonnes of low CV coal supply for its Paiton power plant in East Java as the previous tender only attracted two suppliers, one supplier short of the minimum requirement.
