Thai coal mining firm Lanna Resources Limited plans to increase coal output on 2009

Thai coal mining firm Lanna Resources Limited plans to increase coal output from its Indonesian mines next year.

Lanna Resources through its Indonesian subsidiaries will raise coal output to a total of 3.8 million tons in 2009 from 3 million in 2007, Lanna’s Coal Procurement Division Head Sungsun Gomutbutra told Petromindo.Com on the sideline of the CoalAsia conference in Bali last week.

PT Singlurus Pratama, its unit that operates a coal mine in East Kalimantan, will start commercial production at the end of this year. The output will reach around 100,000 tons in the beginning and ramp up to 1 million in 2009, he said.

Meanwhile, other subsidiaries, PT Lanna Harita Indonesia (LHI) and PT Citra Harita Mineral (CHM), are expected to maintain output level at 1.8 million ton and 1 million ton next year, respectively.

LHI and CHM, which are also based in East Kalimantan, have targeted coal output this year at 1.8 million and 1 million per year respectively, same with last year’s outputs

The company exports all its coal production to Thailand, India and Taiwan.
